2010 Harry Clampitt Young Breed Award
Jessica Hasheider, Wisconsin

The 2010 Harry Clampitt Young Breeder Award was presented at the AMSS Convention to Jessica Hasheider of Plain, Wisconsin.  She is a pivotal part of her operation as well as the state organization, firmly believing in the Milking Shorthorn breed.

Jessica has been the secretary/treasurer of the Wisconsin Milking Shorthorn Breeders Association for the past several years.  She organizes the state newsletter, highlighting events and recognizing both youth and adult breeders each issue.  Her organizational skills are second to none as she plays a huge role in the success of the state sale held each April.  This sale boasts one of the highest averages for a Milking Shorthorn sale in the country year after year, in part because of the quality of animals and the trust in the management. At World Dairy Expo, Jessica helps to organize the hospitality dinner following the show on Wednesday, and those who tie with her at Expo will surely attest to you that she is one darn good cook!

Jessica is part owner of the Little Prairie Farm, consisting of Milking Shorthorns and Holsteins in Plain, WI.  She owns the farm with her dad and brother and has also gotten her boyfriend, Ken, interested in Milking Shorthorns.  She is a consistent seller and buyer at the state sale and has shown at the state fair and World Dairy Expo for a number of years.  She loans cattle to juniors to exhibit at the local, state and national level.  Jessica is also an “unsung” hero, chaperoning numerous times at the Wisconsin Junior State Fair, thereby allowing several junior members the opportunity to meet others and to exhibit cattle at a higher level.

The Hasheiders participate in many AMSS programs, believing in the mission and power of these programs.  These include classification, production testing, the Express program and the All-American contest.  She also often advertises in the Milking Shorthorn Journal.  Her herd began with several solid cow families and she has helped to develop and improve upon them with her own breeding.  Riverdale JR developed into the Grand Champion at the 2000 Wisconsin State Fair.  Gold Mine Miss Rose Kali Ex91 was a production and brood cow queen.  Hasheiders Thr Kali Kepske (a Thor daughter out of Kali) is becoming a bull mother, with Hasheider’s Keep the Cash (CD x Kepske) available at Genex.  Jessica is continuing to develop strong cow families, trying new bulls and new crosses to further the genetic base of her herd.
