Not only did we top the average but we were the only breed that showed an increase in average from 2008. Hats off to Keith Fisher as he worked hard lining up buyers; though he had no idea that they would come through like they did. Both Keith and I were on the phone with Dale Bendig, Seth Johnson and Jason Robinson handling other phone bids; besides lively interest from the large crowd. The top price was $7,750 on the choice of lots 97/98. The Melinda Syndicate of PA, WI and IA chose lot 98 on the phone with Dale Bendig handling the bid. Mapleton Valley and Arbaugh Family of Maryland were also in the hunt. The ET full sisters born in September were sired by Pinehurst Rebel 9th out of Viking Valley Star Megg 4E94. This makes the heifers maternal sisters to Viking Valley Plum Megg 3E94, All American Aged Cow 2001 and dam of Kuszmar Megadeth. Another maternal sister to the pair is Horizon-Tudor Margarita-EXP-ET 4E95, Reserve All American Five Year Old 2003 and twice Total Performance Winner at the International along with being the former US butterfat champion. A full sister to the these September Calves is Hard Core Rebel Maggie E90; nominated All American in 2009. Hard Core and Hillpoint Partners where the consignors.

Second high came on lot 100, the Kuszmar Megadeth out of Rovin Sampsons Apple Pie 2E90 named Rovin Mega Pretty Pie ET. The sweet and elegant Pretty Pie stood second  in the Winter Calf Class at the International this year under Judge Ron Moser. Apple Pie in turn was Honorable Mention All American Winter Heifer Calf in 2005. Sired by the Canadian Milking Shorthorn sire Nordica Sampson, Apple Pie is from a deep Mi-San Acres family. Kuszlyk Cattle Company purchased Pretty Pie for $5,000 from Rovin Acres/Pat Ruzic, of Hixton, WI.

At $4,800 lot 105, B-D-F H-R Jewel Julip ET sold to new buyers the Rademacher Family of "R" Acres, a 600 cow Holstein Herd near Cottage Grove, Wisconsin. Julip is sired by Innisfail Prince of Diamonds out of Othello Rubys Jewel 2E92 and the current World Champion butterfat holder for Milking Shorthorns. Julip, a very correct heifer with a promising udder sold pasture bred to Rovin Lady Logic Lucky. "R" Acres also purchased lot 102, a GMC Rebel Logic out of Mysha R-H Lady Dimples-ET-EXP V88-2yr for $3,300. Lady Dimples herself brought $3,000 from Katie Agnew. Sired by Innisfail Red Ruben, Lady Dimples made over 16,000 pounds as a Senior Yearling and is due in January to Rovin Ali Ted Attitude-ET. Vince Ruzic and Mike Hellenbrand consigned all three of these lots.

Selling for $4,000 was Spungold-RH Present-ET. Sired by Bar-D Krauese Fawns C.D. and out of the World Milk Record Holder Gold Mine Poppys OT Kay 2E95. Present has a full brother in service at Genex and maternal brothers in service at Select Sires and Taurus Sires in addition to two sisters on the Top 50 PPR Cow List. The huge framed, powerful Present was bought by the Ritichie Family of Indiana. Vince Ruzic and Mike Hellenbrad were consignors.

Bringing $3,800 was Lands-Brook Calmar-EXP, a bred heifer by Logic out of Lands-Brook Christe 4E94. Christie is also the dam of the multiple All American Lands-Brook Christina-EXP ET 2E94. Classifier Lee Harris made his first Milking Shorthorn purchase from Mitch Schulte of Watkins, Iowa; Jason Robinson handled the bid.
